Geared toward pairing innovative start-ups with mentors from a variety of industries, the challenge is an initiative of the Ballston Business Improvement District (BID). BallstonBID pinpoints innovators in the Ballston area and pairs them with mentors to help bring each idea to fruition. Impact Hub is excited about the possibility of placing in the top three finalists of The Ballston LaunchPad Challenge, which will earn them the chance to pitch to sports team owner, venture capital investor, and Co-CEO of Groupon Ted Leonsis.

Impact Hub is a perfect fit for BallstonBID, which brings together entrepreneurs, innovators, creative minds, and organizations that have deep influence in the community and beyond. The Ballston area is home to some of the most innovative companies in the country, including CACI and SAIC. Through this challenge, BallstonBID hopes to add a few new businesses to that list.

As a finalist organization, Impact Hub will spend the next few months working with a group of mentors chosen specifically for the LaunchPad Challenge. Impact Hub is excited to work with others in Ballston who share our entrepreneurial spirit and we look forward to learning from those who have achieved so much in their chosen industries.

Once the mentorship period is complete, three winners will be chosen as finalists in The Ballston LaunchPad Challenge and awarded the ability to pitch to Leonsis. A winner will receive $15,000 with additional funding possible from Leonsis, and both donated legal time and free workspace. The winner will also receive ongoing mentorship to further ensure his or her idea reaches its full potential.
